Fire detection and life safety systems specialist CDS is celebrating two years of impressive growth by relocating to a new, larger, head office.
Its new premises, on Dominus Way in Leicester’s Meridian business park, not only provides twice as much desk space for the growing workforce, but also offers light and airy breakout spaces and collaborative working areas for the in-house teams and customers.
CDS has steadily expanded its services and its geographical reach since August 2020 under a ‘buy-and-build’ strategy aimed at offering facilities managers a broad range of compliance services across the UK.
These include the acquisition of fire safety and compliance technology specialists Drax 360, water and energy consultancy Genex and electrical testing and compliance experts Safety Checked Ltd.
In addition to its new Leicester head office, the wider company has offices in Durham, Harrogate, Monmouthshire, Manchester and Middlesex.
Clients include some of the UK’s largest universities, NHS health trusts, numerous local authorities and public sector organisations, industrial property giants, logistics operators and student accommodation providers.
The new offices were designed and created by Nottingham-based commercial design and fit out contractor Ashlar.
CDS MD Simon Abley said: “Thanks to our incredible and hard-working team we have grown considerably over the last two years, acquiring complementary companies to enable us to offer a broader range of services across the country. With this growth comes the need to move to new premises which can accommodate our expanding team, welcome our customers and which reflect our wider service offering.”
CDS chairman Simon Cashmore and managing director Simon Abley, who acquired CDS in 2020, were the team behind outdoor services specialist TCL Group. They grew the business 14-fold over 12 years before selling it in 2019. Its expansion was achieved in a similar way – through strategic acquisition of complementary companies to broaden both its geographical reach and service offerings. TCL was named one of the 1,000 Companies to Inspire Europe in 2017 by the London Stock Exchange.
